Besides scissors, spiral notebooks are a close second as the bane of a school kid’s existence. Those wire spirals are uncomfortable, and you end with marks from the wire. Plus, it makes it hard to write. Those big fat several subject notebooks were horrible for me. That big wire spiral was impossible to write around. Today, we look at notebooks for left-handers and review some of the best for left-handed school kids. Of course, the notebooks aren’t all absolutely for kids. Teens and adults can use these as well. We’re reviewing for kids, though, because they are the ones that use notebooks the most, especially in school.
I’m sure that some of us older left-handers can remember turning our spiral notebook so that we opened them from the back and wrote on the paper that way. I didn’t do it much because I was afraid the teachers would have a fit.
Please, be aware that items for left-handers are reasonably expensive compared to their right-handed counterparts. If you are left-handed or live with a lefty, I’m sure you are aware of the expense of left-handed items. Some are well worth it, and others not so much.
Let’s look at some left-handed notebooks.
Best Notebook Left-Handed for Young Kids
I chose these notebooks because they are bright and colorful. Your children love bright colors, and these notebooks will make your little girl or boy happy to be left-handed and make their lives at school much easier without the hassle of a wire spiral getting in their way.
Lefty’s Left-Handed Wide Ruled Notebook with Butterfly Design
These notebooks come in a set of three, so you have a supply, or you have one for each of three subjects for school. The notebooks open from left to right with the wire spiral on the right side for a lefty’s comfort—no annoying wire pressing into your wrist. The pages have holes for a three-ring binder on the left side like it should be for a left-handed user. These notebooks are also wide lined for younger users.

Lefty’s Left-Handed “Superpower” Wide Ruled Metallic Cover Notebook
As with the butterfly notebooks, these open from left to right with the spiral on the right side. Much more comfortable than trying to write with the spiral wire in the way. These come in a set of three like the butterfly ones, but they have three colors that come in blue, purple, and black with a superhero fist on them. The color selection varies due to what is in stock. The color choice is Lefty’s, but all three colors are perfect for your child. The holes are also punched on the left side for placement in a three-ring binder. These notebooks are also wide lined for younger users.

Best Left-Handed Notebooks for Older Kids
Older left-handed kids want the same comfort as their younger peers, but they also want something a bit more grownup. So, I chose a couple of options for the older left-handed kids in your life. Also, I added a college-ruled option as well as the wide-ruled option. As I got older, I realized my writing was so small that the college-lined pages were better for me. Except for when a teacher wanted a full three-page report, it was unfair because it took more to fill the page, especially if you write small. Anyway, back to our selections.
Lefty’s Left-Handed “Lefties Rule” Wide Ruled Notebook
These wide-ruled notebooks from Lefty’s are set up the same as the previous notebooks, but the look of the covers is more mature and suitable for an older student in grade or primary school. They open from right to left with the wire spiral on the right side and holes on the left for placement in a three-ring binder. They come in assorted colors chosen by Lefty’s for you depending on what colors are in stock. This set is of five notebooks.

They open from left to right with the spiral on the right side, so it’s comfortable for a left-hander to use. These notebooks have two pockets. They come in assorted colors, and Lefty’s chooses the colors in this set of five. The pages in this notebook are perforated for easy, clean removal. Holes on the left side make it easy to place them in a three-ring binder.

Best for Left-Handed Notebook for Junior/Senior High or Secondary School Kids
For left-handed teenagers who have entered Junior or Senior high, known as Secondary school in the UK, need notebooks that fit what they are working on in their classes. Most of these don’t have the bright colors of the notebooks we chose for the younger kids, but they are suitable for the work of higher school grades.
ROARING SPRING Lefty 1 Subject College Ruled

The wire spiral is on the right side, and the perforated pages make for easy removal. These notebooks are made in the US. I’m not sure of availability in the UK or elsewhere.

Conclusion
I think this covers left-handed notebooks for everyone. Some of them are reasonable in price, and others seem a bit expensive. However, if you’re left-handed and hate using right-handed notebooks, you can somewhat overlook the costs. I’d be willing to spend a bit more to have my lefty child happy and comfortable. What about you? Would you pay extra for the comfort of not having to press your wrist over a wire spiral? Do any of you have left-handed notebooks you use that are different from these? Let us know below in the comments. We’d love to hear from you.
